Send your original P60 end of tax year summary to HMRC (they will not accept a copy), or if you are leaving and not continuing your employment, request a P45 and send it to HMRC

An emergency code can take no account of your previous employment history or of any other tax free allowances you may be entitled to or any reduction to your tax free amount that should be made. What if I start a job with a form P45? If you have a form P45 to hand to your new employer and it shows that at your last job you were taxed on emergency code, your new employer will continue using that emergency code until HMRC issue a new code number
