Posted @ Monday, January 02, 2012 3:05 PM by Mark My friend, the prehistoric lion was an animal that was not agile as a result it evolved into a mountain lion(american puma). BEARS CAN KILL WALRUSES AND SMASH BELUGA WHALE SKULLS WITH A SINGLE BLOW!!! What can a puny little tiger do? Sure, tigers can take on gaurs, but POLAR BEARS CAN TAKE ON BULL WALRUSES AND BELUGA WHALES! I'm not saying siberian tigers are weak, I'M SAYING BEARS ARE TRUE MONSTERS!!! In a face-to-face fight, the polar bear can almost match the tiger's ferocious attacks with its own insane agility and crush the tiger's skull or break its spine or kill it quickly in various other ways as easily as we eat cheese! SO SHUT UP IF YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AND STOP POISONING PEOPLE'S MINDS WITH COMPLETELY UNTRUE FACTS!!! Posted @ Sunday, August 08, 2010 2:21 PM by Hugh This is ridiculous no big cat regardless of size, health, species stands absolutely no chance against a polar bear, the only way a big cat could win was unless the polar bear was the same size of the cat and that would be unfair for it would be a juvenile bear

However, the motion will organize itself into independently circulating loops, because air masses cannot rise without others coming down to take their place. Plasma containment experiments in the lab (conducted with an eye towards possibly extracting energy from the fusion of hydrogen nuclei) can involve rarefied plasmas at a temperature around a million degrees, held trapped by magnetic fields

I didn't see it on the IMAX screen where I imagine it really knocks your socks off, but at a multiplex where picture and sound were impressive enough to convey just how advanced special effects technology has become. There is much artistry involved here, especially when the night scenes of the train's fast-moving travel through a blustery snowstorm capture some rich winter landscapes, including a frozen lake that threatens to demolish train and passengers before danger has passed

Animals store toxins in fat cells, and arctic animals are highly susceptible to these toxins, because they tend to have large fat stores to survive the cold. Habitat: Brown bears can be found in a variety of habitats, but they prefer wilderness regions containing river valleys, mountain forests, and open meadows, with low road-density

They are however being devastatingly affected by global warming as the ice that they rely so heavily on is disappearing fast and has led to the Polar Bear becoming a strong symbol of the effects of climate change. Although international hunting bans have prevented such a high level of hunting, conservation efforts within the Arctic Circle prove to be hard with the one thing that the Polar Bear actually needs to survive disappearing more every year

Polar bears are increasingly seeking out humans, especially the Inuits who live in the area, because the melting polar ice is shortening the bears' hunting season. Among the few land animals that migrate to the region are caribou (reindeer) and the arctic fox.Polar bears also hang out around the North Pole, but they spend much of their time in the water, hunting the fish that live under the ice

They enter their over-wintering maternity dens in October or November, and later give birth to between one and four cubs (twins are most common) sometime during December or January. Although footprints of wandering polar bears have been seen within two degrees of the North Pole, this is uncommon, since few seals or other animals live this far north

The long period of fasting makes this species especially vulnerable to environmental changes like a warming climate that reduces the amount of time they have available to build up the fat reserves they need to survive both fasting and to bring off a successful pregnancy. Unlike the massive polar bears that can grow huge on diets of abundant seals, their ancestor brown or grizzly bears in the arctic are small, have very lower reproductive rates and eagerly eat almost anything that exists in their environment

When an adult bear is in good shape, polar bears eat only the blubber in order to build up the fat reserves they need to sustain themselves between meals. Researchers in Canada estimated one male bear at 800 kilograms (1,700 pounds)! Scientists usually refer to how tall bears are by measuring them at the shoulder when on all fours
