After exfoliating the night prior and shaving I squirt some mousse onto the mitt and doing circular motions started at the tops of my feet and worked my way up to my neck and arms and applied the mousse. Unfortunately, my fair skin does not like to take self tanners so for me, I won't continue to buy it but I think the color and application mitt make this the best tanner out of the many I've tried
