French manicure, painted designs, a sprinkle of glitter? These ladies do it all.Good eatsWhile Cambodian cuisine has yet to achieve the international status of Thai or Vietnamese food, you can definitely eat well and cheaply in Phnom Penh. You might be talking to an older person who out of the blue starts relating Khmer Rouge torture stories, silent tears a reminder that the wounds are yet open and deep

I'm not a spammer, but genuine traveller, Saroun asked me to help him so I'm posting his details - a very nice guy who's struggling to survive! Any questions let me know! Patrick. Kim San has ample experience as guide (he worked as a guide for 8 years before opening up his own company), and has even worked with the Amazing Race crew when they were in Siem Reap (he gave them their clue)

To be perfectly blunt about it, we think this village is a cruddy tourist trap and not surprisingly, many of the locals are either thoroughly tired of all the tourists floating around their neighborhood or have devised ingenious ways of separating them from their money

Other Siem Reap Tips Just so you know, Siem Reap is very small and these days feels like mostly hotels! You can easily walk around town, though your tour guides will offer to drive you, but we felt it was almost faster to walk. My fave temples were Angkor Wat, Bayon (oh, those faces!), Phnom Bakheng (at sunset), Ta Prohm (made famous by Angelina Jolie), and make the drive out to Banteay Strey to see its amazing carvings

Throw a Grenade: For all those of you with a little steam to let off, visit the Shooting Range and get the chance to shout a machine gun or lob a grenade. However, wherever you stay will never be far from the hustle and bustle, with one dollar rickshaws available for the lazy ones amongst us! Things to Do Explore the temples of Angkor Wat: The main reason tourists and backpackers alike flock to this city is to visit one of the most famous and important archaeological sites in southeast Asia

Prices will be higher during festivals like the Khmer New Year (in April), but there is little going on in December, making it a very cheap time to visit. Best Time to Fly to Phnom Penh Because of the reliable temperatures, you can visit Cambodia all year-round, but it might be preferable to vacation during the "dry" season (October to March)

Police said the allegedly drunk driver was barrelling down the road when he lost control of the vehicle, slamming into the residence and injuring three people inside... Many simply deny such potential because, for them, politics has always been business as usual, it can never really deliver on the socio-economic purposes for which it is intended

How it works: If you accept our offer you will be picked up by our driver at your preferred time in the lobby of your hotel (or where ever else) in Bangkok and brought directly to your accommodation on Ko Chang. Therefore, in contrast to other operators, we bound the number of passengers in our vehicles to ensure that there is enough space for them and for their luggage

Re: Thai visa in siem reap Feb 23, 2013, 3:37 PM As far as I am aware, Thailand only maintains an Embassy in Phnom Penh and does not have any outlying Consulate Generals in other parts of Cambodia and certainly not in Siem Reap. Having once applied for a visa from Siem Reap and having had my AU passport go missing - completely unaccounted for and whereabouts unknown for close to a week - be very sure to only entrust this process to a very reliable local travel agency

Review: Giant Ibis night bus, Phnom Penh-Siem Reap

Also the aircon was freezing cold and two seperate times other passengers climbed over the crew sleeping in the isle to ask the driver to turn down the aircon. When we arrived to Phnom Penh before sunrise at 5:30am, the lights were turned on and passengers told to get off in a disorienting abruptness while a horde of tuk tuk drivers helped to unload luggage into a pile

They were very persistent, telling us that cars can't go into Siem Reap (they can), they didn't know the hotel, etc., but we simply said we wouldn't pay until we were at our hotel. Make sure you get an idea of where the buildings are located (Wikitravel has a handy map, and seat61.com shows pictures of the buildings) so you don't end up in one of the tout zones
