Only downside is it is a little expensive and it should come with a sleeve or something since it seems it would get scratched easily and for that price tag. After weeks of research I had my heart set on either the HP envy 4 touchsmart ultrabook (because of the hybrid SSD drive speed advantage) or the HP envy m6 (because of it's great specs: i7, 8gb ram, 1tb hard drive, graphics card, etc)

this Cpu runs very cool in my rig with a stock cooler Idle around 27c and max around 55-60c this is with an antec gx700 case running all stock fans as well. Cons: The stock fan is merely acceptable, might want an aftermarket CPU cooler for more intense and habitual work, other than infrequently encoding or transcoding stuff

The easy answer is "Core i5 is made for mainstream users who care about performance, and Core i3 is made for people who just need an Intel computer," but that can be too simplistic a differentiation. Core i5 uses Hyper-Threading to make a dual-core CPU act like a four-core chipset, but if you have a Core i5 processor with four true cores, it won't have Hyper-Threading

(although i did attempt to take it strapped to my bike, a bet.) Anyway, after using this machine for about 4 days, I can say that i am pleasantly surprised by it's speed. The i7 featured in it is actually faster than the Sandy Bridge i5 I have in my desktop by a fair margin and it shows!Generally speaking it runs fairly cool, is thin and light and fits nicely into my bag - I primarily use this as my work machine so it does get lugged around a fair bit.Honestly whilst it's very expensive for what it is, it's a solid machine and it hasn't let me down at all in the way that many other laptops have in the past, so I feel it's more than justified

Things are even better on the PC side, where prices for SSDs have fallen under a dollar per gigabyte and clearance sales can get you nice, fast, high-capacity drives for even less. Apple doesn't list Intel's CPU model numbers, but if you're buying from another manufacturer you can usually tell the difference by seeing whether the processor has a Q (for quad-core) in its name (i.e., the Core i7-3610QM)

Anecdotally, I have had three i7-4770K CPUs to test, and with my concept of benchmarking stability (5 minutes OCCT and a POV-Ray test, max temperature 98C), one reached 4.7 GHz at 1.35 volts, one reached 4.6 GHz at 1.40 volts and another struggled to get 4.3 GHz at 1.40 volts

Still, it seems very expensive, have you checked out the Dell XPS 13 as well or some of the other premium options available in the 13 inch segment? Reply Linsay July 6, 2015 at 5:43 pm How does an HP laptop with Intel Core i5-4210U compare with same price range Acer Aspire E with Intel i7-5500U processor? They both have 1TB hard drive and 8GB RAM. This post is here however to tell you a few more things about this mid-range Broadwell U CPU and show how it compares with the Haswell Core i5 offers, namely the i5-4200U and the later updated i5-4210U

Thermal Solution for Boxed CPUs Includes a four-pin connector for fan speed control to help minimize the acoustic noise levels generated from running the fan at higher speeds for thermal performance. Although it is still DX11-capable and has the same feature set as the higher-end HD 4000 series graphics of some other Ivy Bridge-based processors, the HD 2500 series graphics engine has only 6 execution units, like the older HD 2000 series engine

Matthew (11:43 PM, March 15, 2015) Not sure that the Power consumption comparison is presented accurately? The graph implies that the Core M gets a higher score for "How much power does the processor require?" - meaning (I assume) it requires less power (as borne out in the detail comparison (3.3 times less power)

I would like to know your thoughts about the configuration since im not very quite sure if this will be ok for casual gaming. It runs the Intel Core i5-5200U with Intel HD graphics 5500 6gb of ram and 2gb dedicated graphics Nvidia Geforce 820m. Thus in some cases you might just be compelled to get the i7 anyway, which will generally cost you several hundreds extra, as this processor will usually be bundled with other upgrades

And to make it even easier, they developed a website where you can select the processor you are running and the OS you want to install and the website will run a hardware compatibility test on your PC and tell you if your hardware will support the OS you want to install

Discounting Core i3 (mainly found in budget systems) and AMD processors (another story entirely), the difference between Intel Core i5 and Core i7 can seem daunting, especially when the prices seem so close together once they're in completed systems. Note that while high-end Intel processors will let you play 3D games at low quality settings, you will still need discrete GPUs from AMD or Nvidia to play 3D games at 1080p with ultra quality settings turned on
