Please be aware that there are few hardware related issues that might give you a hard time while trying to boot into the Live desktop (let alone installing it). Thanks, Eddie Arnd June 30, 2014 at 5:40 pm I installed Linux Mint 17 about a week ago as replacement for my old Ubuntu 11.04 installation and after about one week of fiddling with it just dumped it and and reactivated my Ubuntu 11.04 while downloading Ubuntu 14.04

At step 4, it did boot from the flash drive but directly into GRUB 2 command shell(but right before the grub I could see a line for 1 second saying "Secure Boot Not Enabled"). I have people telling me that the main differences between running a OS like Puppy or Porteus vs Mint on a flash drive is because they cause less "wear and tear" on the flash drive and are supposedly faster

If for some reason you need an automated check, creating a table mapped to the "model name" field seems like one potentially sound method (other fields, including "model", "cpu family", etc. See 64-bit kernel, but all 32-bit ELF executable running processes, how is this? for a detailed discussion (written for x86, but most of it applies to arm as well)

HTG Explains: Should You Use the 32-bit or 64-bit Edition of Ubuntu Linux?

Installation Problems: One of the main reasons Ubuntu recommended new uses download the 32-bit edition was that it was guaranteed to install on their systems, whether they had 32-bit or 64-bit processors. This is just about the only reason I haven't made the switch from 32 bit to 64 bit Linux and also one of the reasons I keep a Windows 7 installation active on one of my computers

Why then, seemingly are we now regressing to the old linux stereotypes and frustrations about wireless? This should have been caught early-on in testing, even before the RC release, and the entire Mint 13 distro re-spun to not have this issue present. If you want a Linux Desktop I would recommend Mint 13 Cinnamon Had a small issue with Banshee freezing the machine but removed it and replaced it with Rhythmbox and all good

Its price quite reasonable and possibilities are very wide! Good by my old d-link dir-300 wi-fi router! 8) Best thing ever! Jake Says: June 14th, 2012 at 11:44 am Can any one tell me if this can run windows? I could care less about linux. I can get a brand name laptop for the same or slightly lower price with bigger hard disk, more powerful cpu, etc, and for a PC without a screen, keyboard, etc, the comparison does not look good

In the case of every UEFI-based PC I've heard of, that means 64-bit; however, some of the earliest Intel-based Macs use 32-bit EFIs, and I've heard rumors that there are some 32-bit EFI-based PCs, too. Some actions are faster on 64-bit, especially applications optimized for it or those that do repetitive mathematical actions on large data sets (such as archiving, encrypting, rendering, video transcoding, or image processing)
