The highest recommended is win xp home edition, And they will not help anyone with tech support if win 7 is installed Whoever did the refurbish on these went against their contract with dell by installing win 7 on it. I did personally consider the Series 7 models for this reason as well as the fact that it doesn't have a CD drive (easy and cheap to purchase external drives though).Overall I'm absolutely delighted with this product taking into consideration the size, weight, design, the keypad and the trackpad (which is actually a very nice feature on this model) and the price!!
