The issue here is that even though the User Profile Service is updated correctly, many times a lot of of the Content Databases for some reason lose their synchronization with the User Profile Synchronization Service. June 11, 2013 jshidell Leave a comment Go to comments I recently ran into an issue where User Profiles where not correctly being synced with Site Collections after a User Profile Synchronization update
For practical purposes, you can view Windows PowerShell as complementing Cmd.exe in the Windows administration context and superseding Stsadm.exe for SharePoint administration. XML and object support is a pretty major change that brings entirely new tools and methods to greatly improve control, efficiency, and productivity for developers and administrators
My SharePoint Notes: Backup and Restore Site Collection in SP2013
I learnt this when restoring the site collection from 15.0.4481.1005 (SP2013 + Mar CU) on the source and trying to go to 15.0.4569.1000 (SP203 + SP1) y destination farm
PowerShell Tip: Empty SharePoint Site Collection Recycle Bin
But this particular site had a list with over 27,000 items in it, and because I had to attempt the migration of this site multiple times, I ended up with over 70,000 items in the recycle bin! Like I said above, that would take a very, very long time only emptying 50 items at a time. How I overloaded my Recycle Bin: I was recently performing a migration from WSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 using our third-party migration tool, the Metavis Migrator
How To Create SharePoint 2010 Site Collection In Its Own DB - Alpesh Nakar
Dishaniti says: November 22, 2010 at 7:35 pm Alpesh How can we create another site collection in same web application with different database (restored moss 2007 content database) Please advise dbiz says: October 14, 2011 at 4:49 pm Thanks David! Great tip on setting the maximum number of databases. Another way I have used is to set the database limits on the current web apps to equal their current number of databases to force the next site collection to be created in the database that does not have its limit reached yet
Granular Backup and Restore in SharePoint 2010 (Part 2)
To take the site collection backup we need to use the Backup-SPSite command and specify the location where the backup will be stored, and the URL of the site collection. On the left side click on the Backup and Restore link as shown below, then in the detail pane click on Perform a site collection backup under Granular Backup as shown below
Trying to restore an entire full-farm backup into a different environment will flat-out fail due to the fact that SharePoint configuration databases maintain environmentally specific information such as server names. Before reading your post I was planing on doing a full farm backup from the central admin and then restoring that onto my new servers that are setup, identical layout of the servers, just new names and such
Monitoring Real-time and predictive monitoring is a key business requirement to ensure the SharePoint team is aware at all times of the health of their environments holistically. The capacity of the Backup server has been planned based on assumption that total size of 21 days of backup with SQL compression enabled is less than 3x the size of the original databases
I am familiar with the process of adding templates to the global store in MOSS 2007 using stsadm -o addtemplate and then retrieving the global template number by using stsadm -o enumtemplates However I do not see this same functionality in SP2010. The example above displays a lot of cool properties such as Title, Description, Language, when the site was created, and when the last item was modified
In the site there was a document library with versioning (major and minor) enabled, auditing was enabled and there were custom workflows associated with the list. Database attach is always the best way to avoid any problems of this kind but in some cases for various reasons very frequent backup of the content database is not preferred and backup of a single site collection (SPSite) or single site (SPWeb) is required
powershell - I cant delete or restore a site collection or repair database - SharePoint Stack Exchange
this error comes for one of the following reasons: Backup SharePoint server version is different than the restore server version The backup file is corrupted The used user account is not having the permission on the content DB for the web application that you want to restore on. It seems the Restore command is no longer backwards compatible and can't be relied to restore betweem different patch levels (so to everyone out there, you better backup your SQL directly instead of having a Backup-SPSite routine) but this might have been an isolated issue

However, using this parameter can allow users to change the site collection while it is being backed up and might lead to possible data corruption during backup
So, when your sub-sites gets deleted, navigate to Site collection recycle bin and you can find the deleted sites, you will be able to restore from there. What if a user accidently deletes 5 items out of 1,000 and you simply want to restore those 5 items? By default, the import-spweb cmdlet overwrites items if they exist with the restored version
However, you fear that running the code may break something and before you run the code, you want to backup the site so that in case running the code breaks something you can restore the backup taken before running the code. If your source site collection (from where you taken backup) uses custom SharePoint solution, then deploy the solution in the destination site collection (where you are restoring the backup)
