I want to also make 4 other important points to clarify some questions on this topic: 1) If you have not installed Visual Studio 2008, then you should not have this problem unless you have previously installed a CTP build of SQL Server 2008. If we didn't block this in our setup, you would be left with an installation of Visual Studio that is not supported (part of VS would have SP1 bits and part would not)

There are a few articles out there on how to enable compatibility mode on Vista but I had a tough time finding the exact procedures on Windows Server 2008 so I figured I would post them here in case anybody else is having trouble. Reporting Services is a prerequisite for TFS and when running through the installation of SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2008, you may notice the option to install Reporting Services is grayed out

I could be way off but I think that has something to do with a default set of files existing or something, and until you find and delete it you will continue to have that problem. You don't have to install the database engine to install the workstation tools, but if you plan to do Integration Services development, you do need to install the Integration Services Engine on the workstation for BIDS to be able to be used for development

Fred A 27 Feb 2011 7:14 AM Hi Beth, After running SQL Server SP2 on Windows 7 x64 did it upgrade your SSMS to 10.2.4000.0 or did it leave it at 10.50.1600.1? Both my Win3k3 x32 bit and Vista x32 systems have been upgraded to 10.2.4000.0. Being on the VS team I have a lot of internal builds to install of VS so I am also semi-frequently installing SSMS on the VMs :) Cheers!
