The OS will be Ubuntu 10.04 because is the distribution I am most familiar with and because it is a long term support (LTS) version of the distribution. Just use 7zip to browse the exe, you'll see a core.zip file which has all the files that usually go inside "jreX" dir (where X is the major version number). Currently I install it, copy it then uninstall it to hide it from them--seems kind of annoying but the way it is now breaks our entire dev setup with every patch

There are no more supported java releases from Ubuntu - Ubuntu officially supports OpenJDK and OpenJRE implementation of Java which is the base for Oracle's own implementation
