Things to Do in Phnom Penh Most tourists visit Phnom Penh in the months of December through February when there is little rain and not as much humidity as at other times of the year. Given the recent construction of the airport, it is likely that further transport links to the airport will be developed in the coming years.A number of bus services take passengers to the bus terminal at the public transportation centre at the airport, including bus routes from the Southern bus terminal in Bangkok and from the On-Nut Skytrain station

Review: Giant Ibis night bus, Phnom Penh-Siem Reap

Also the aircon was freezing cold and two seperate times other passengers climbed over the crew sleeping in the isle to ask the driver to turn down the aircon. When we arrived to Phnom Penh before sunrise at 5:30am, the lights were turned on and passengers told to get off in a disorienting abruptness while a horde of tuk tuk drivers helped to unload luggage into a pile

boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap - Siem Reap Forum - TripAdvisor

The bus certainly is the budget option and few things can be as dull as a 5 hour bus trip, but the boat is just as long a journey and not a much better option in my experience. the boat from PP to SR in March 2011 is not luxurious, it does not offer much more of a visual treat than the coach, is vastly more expensive than the coach and there is a just a small chance that it might capsize and kill you

Air travelAir travel is of course the fastest way to travel, but you will spend more time going to and from the airports than in the air, since the distance is so short. These can be fantastic trips giving you the opportunity to view life on the lake, floating houses, working fishermen, and to get a sun-tan if you choose to sit on the roof of the boat

One-month visas are available at Cambodian embassies, and much more conveniently, on arrival at the international airports in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh as well as at most overland international border crossings with Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. The Angkor Park is 4 kilometers from town and the temples inside the park are as much as 3-4 kilometers apart, ordinarily requiring some sort of transportation to tour

In the city, there are museums, traditional Apsara dance performances, Cambodian cultural village, souvenir and handycraft shops, silk farms, rice-paddy countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake

We can arrange a pick up from the border if sufficient notice is given, however we only offer a pick up to our customers who are using our Angkor tours. If you are taking the bus all the way to Siem Reap you will have a 2 hour wait at the restaurant, another few hours spent getting across the border, then at least another 4 hours getting to Siem Reap

If you are trying to connect from Vietnam from somewhere other than HCMC it can be awkward as the 'system' is not set up for this and the suggestion is that you spend a night in Phnom Penh. If you are a real traveller then avoid teh VIP bus, chances are that if you take a usual bus you will get to sit next to some real Khmers which in has always been more interesting in good ways than sitting next to a tourist

They were very persistent, telling us that cars can't go into Siem Reap (they can), they didn't know the hotel, etc., but we simply said we wouldn't pay until we were at our hotel. Make sure you get an idea of where the buildings are located (Wikitravel has a handy map, and seat61.com shows pictures of the buildings) so you don't end up in one of the tout zones
