The database, backup and log will be recreated from scratch. To make the import procedure more convenient for the end-user an appropriate batch file is automatically created and put in the same folder as sql script(s)

Fred A 27 Feb 2011 7:14 AM Hi Beth, After running SQL Server SP2 on Windows 7 x64 did it upgrade your SSMS to 10.2.4000.0 or did it leave it at 10.50.1600.1? Both my Win3k3 x32 bit and Vista x32 systems have been upgraded to 10.2.4000.0. Being on the VS team I have a lot of internal builds to install of VS so I am also semi-frequently installing SSMS on the VMs :) Cheers! I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with licensing rules, but more to do with the fact that the backup files made in server 2012 have been changed (probably at least three times) since the last update to 2005 has been released. This is a frequent case since Program Platnika is a software for calculating liabilities to government and entity changing tax office (that helds databases) happens

But as a precaution, I would highly recommend that you treat the upgrade as a potential failure, and be prepared to reinstall your SQL Server and recreate all the databases and settings. I was able to keep the 2005 Database engine running in 2005, but SSIS did upgrade and now none of the jobs tied to SSIS will run due to the compatibility issue

As of SQL Server 2008, you can let SQL Server's setup program change from one edition to some other edition by just selecting "Maintenance", "Edition Upgrade" in setup and specify the product key that came with the install media for the desired edition (which you have acquired first, of course). What about the rest?Obviously, you might want to check other things, such as database options, file size, auto grow settings, maintenance for the databases etc

SBS 2011 setup installs Sharepoint 2010 Foundation by default, which uses a named instance of SQL 2008 R2 Express to hold the configuration, content, and search databases. In preparation for the migration, when you run the prescan utility on a WSS 3.0 content database that is approaching this threshold, two of its checks will fail: Failed: Databases within this farm are hosted on Windows Internal Database and are larger than or close to 4GB in size
